Sometimes, we all come across a few situations in life that change the complete course of our lives to a whole new level. It can be either positive or negative incident.
Just one small incident is enough to change the complete outlook of our life. Such eye-opening incidents help us to realize how much we are worth as human beings.
One day when we look back, we realize that we wouldn’t have been what we are now if that incident hadn’t happened. Perhaps, God puts us in certain situations so that we value our own existence and learn from them and if possible, transmit it to others.
THE STORY OF ‘RICH’ HEARTED, ABDUL RAZZAK
And so was the case of Rickshaw Wala, Abdul Razzak, who always felt inferior about himself as he was very poor.
But one incident changed his life and he never felt inferior after that.
Here goes his heart-warming incident that changed his vision towards life as narrated by himself.
As a rickshaw driver, I meet many people every day. Sometimes, I stop to observe them and I think that each one of them will also have something to tell but if they had any problem, I thought that the person least likely to confess something or consult something, would be me. Well for them, I’m just a simple driver.
But one day, something happened and changed my perceptive towards life. One of my passengers, helped me see and realize, how much I devalued myself as a man and a person for just being poor.
That day, it was one more day of work for me, but not for that passenger. I remember looking at him in my rearview mirror while he was talking on the phone. He was roaming around from one location to another in my rickshaw like a distraught and insane man for almost two hours.
He was so distressed, very anguished and exalted. I wanted to ask him what the problem was? but I was afraid. However, after few minutes, I heard him talking about his wife health condition who was admitted to hospital.
He said that she is in critical condition and needs A- blood donors. But as negative blood groups are rare he was finding difficult to get blood. Moreover, if she doesn’t get blood in time it would be very difficult to save her life. He grew more and more nervous as the hours passed.
We were in silent for a few minutes while I thought about how should I tell him that I had same blood factor as his wife and that I would like to help. But I was afraid of being rejected because of my poor status. On the other hand, my mind was not able to be peace until I told him. So finally I put aside the prejudices and told him:
Baba, would you mind if I ask you to take my blood? I tested my blood last year for an illness and I am aware that I have the same blood type A- that you need for your wife. I am a very honest person with no bad habits and I pray 5 times a day. My only problem is that I am a poor man. Do you have problems taking the blood of a poor person and would you let me give my blood to your wife?
The man looked at me and without saying anything, he hugged me and cried inconsolably. He did not care that I was poor. He did not make social differences nor hesitated to accept my help. Instead, he felt it as a blessing.
I donated my blood in the emergency room and it took almost 2 hours for the entire process. But during those 2 hours, I felt things that I had never felt before.
After donating my blood, that man didn’t ask me if he could give me money in exchange for my blood. Instead, he thanked me and asked if he could call me ‘Father’.
I always felt inferior as I was a poor man. But when he called me Father I felt so special and valuable at that moment. This incident helped me to realize that nothing is greater than saving someone’s life.
My pockets may be empty but I’m rich by heart. And from that day I never felt I am poor anymore.
That experience undoubtedly changed my vision on life. Further, it also showed me that there are still people out there who know that what we have inside is worth much more than all the money in the world.
The last sentence of Razzak – Isn’t it absolutely right?
