After the release of the first part on 10 July 2015, the Baahubali chants decreased for some time until its second part released recently with a big roar. Yes, since 28 April 2017, Indian cinema is all abuzz only with that name – Baahubali.
S. S. Rajamouli’s crowning project – Baahubali 2 became the milestone of Indian cinema already. With very high expectations set by the prequel, the crew’s pressure was more than that which could be measured for the sequel. However, the earnest team made sure every base is covered. They worked tirelessly to make the project a visual as well as an auditory treat.
So overall, what led to Baahubali’s grand victory in both home and international markets? How did ‘The One with the Strong arms’ bring in so much of profit along with it? Here are our reasons.
BEHIND BAAHUBALI’S CONQUEST
S. S. RAJAMOULI
First and foremost reason is the highly intellectual director – S. S. Rajamouli. Without him, the project would be very next to impossible. His thoughtful step by step and ultimately skilled approach made the output look perfect in all ways.
Baahubali has the perfect cast – None could ever imagine anyone else but only Prabhas as Baahubali and Rana Daggubati as Bhallaladeva. For that matter, even Anushka Shetty as Devasena, Ramya Krishnan as Rajmata Sivagami and Sathyaraj as Katappa did more than just justice to their characters. Altogether, in the case of Baahubali, if the director is the bow of the movie, then the cast is the arrow that struck the target precisely.
THE TECHNICAL TEAM
Another major reason for the movie’s success is the efforts and time investment in terms of VFX and CGI. With highly appealing Mahismati kingdom, the bloody war scenes and much more, Baahubali 2 is surely a feast by itself. Equipped with native talents, the movie, and its triumph is an example that Indian cinema is already heading in the right direction.
SPREADING THE WINGS
The filmmakers were also keen to make Baahubali look like a Hindi or a Tamil or a Malayalam movie for the respective audiences, though the main roots lie in Telugu. In fact, Baahubali’s story is more generic and completely Indian. This is the reason that a large chunk of collections poured in from all over uniformly.
Last but not the least, the strategy followed in the promotion is also a key reason. One could have seen producer keeping aside INR 8-10 crores for even a medium budget film in Hindi. With much grandeur and the most expensive movie in the country, Baahubali filmmakers used a meagre INR 3.5 crores for promotions. As a matter of fact, this shows that the story and a perfect cast makes a movie successful.
Other inferences for the movie’s accomplishment include the investment in technology – In fact, Baahubali is the first movie to use 4K projections, the spirited team who took part in all the movie’s promotional events together and the filmmaker’s vision to lead the Indian cinema than to follow their counterparts.
THE GOLD HUNT
Not just the talk, but the sequel has walked the way all through to top the charts. The film is inching very close to INR 1500 crores. Baahubali’s record will stay unbroken for some time now. In fact, the movie will bring home a pure profit of approximately INR 1000 crores.
Moreover, the climax of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion says that something is waiting in the same lines for the future.
