It’s never too late to learn or pursue your dreams. Well, this 87-year-old grandma from Valencia, Spain proves it by creating a series of incredible paintings using Microsoft Paint application.
Usually, grandmas will spend their time by babysitting, walking, knitting clothes or something unrelated to technology. But Concha Garcia Zaera‘s hobby is no similar to them.
Unlike other grandmas, Concha can often be found in front of her PC, creating stunning paintings on MS Paint.
Grandma Concha discovered digital painting only after her children gave her a computer 12 years ago, and she hasn’t let go of it since then!
She started using Microsoft Paint when her husband got ill and had to take care of him by being at home.
As a result, she couldn’t go out very often. So she began drawing with MS Paint and mastered the art with patience.
Speaking of her initial painting days, Concha Garcia Zaera said,
I began painting little things: first, a house, the next day I’d add a mountain… Step by step, I was adding details, and in the end, the result was a very pretty thing.
CONCHA’S LOVE FOR MS PAINT
Zaera had a deep interest in drawing since very young age. Not only normal painting, she likes oil painting as well.
As her husband fell ill, she had to leave her painting classes at the local senior center. Meanwhile, she found that the oil paints were too strong to use at home as her husband was affected by the smell of the paint.
So, her children gave her a computer and that’s where she discovered MS Paint and fulfilled her passion.
She spends time drawing colorful creations pixel by pixel, with the mouse. And the results are absolutely stunning.
Her Paintings are so beautiful that it leaves even Microsoft developers surprised.
Concha takes about two weeks to complete one picture focusing intensely on the details.
There are drawings that took two weeks to make and others that take away more than a month. I try to go to the detail. Borro, I start again, I erase again … I have a stuck drawing that has been with me for a year.
Further, she added,
I have no imagination at all, so I get inspiration from the postcards that my husband used to send me or drawings that I find and like.
Initially, Concha used to post her digital paintings on Facebook, but they did not have much reach.
Later, one of her granddaughters suggested that she should use Instagram instead of Facebook. And Zaera became an internet sensation.
On March 9, she had about 300 followers on Instagram but now Zaera’s account has 163K followers now at the time of this writing.
Suddenly messages started coming in, and my phone does not stop ringing. I called my grandson and said, “Daniel, what’s going on here? He’s gone crazy, I really have not touched anything! On Friday (March 9), when it all started, I laughed a lot with my grandchildren. We did not know what was happening. I even got a little scared.
In addition to new followers, there were thousands and thousands of messages filled with admiration and affection.
By seeing such huge response from all over, humble and innocent Grandma Concha said,
I do not understand very well why my drawings draw so much attention, I think they are very simple things.
As of now, Zaera has posted only 20 paintings on her Instagram account even though she has created more paintings. This is because she just wants them to be well done before posting.
That’s a ‘Perfect’ Grandma for you!
