The epic movie, Avatar won the heart of millions when it released on 18 December 2009. Well, there were rumors about the sequel of the movie to be released soon. Now, there is a confirmation that the top-grossing Titanic film director, James Cameron officially started the production today on the Avatar sequel, not one but four.
The most expensive shoot at an estimated collective budget expected to surpass USD 1 billion started at the Manhattan Beach.
In August, Cameron said that he is working without a break for nearly 3 years on the franchise. He added that his dreams serve as inspiration for his work and announced that he will start working with the cast in September.
As James Cameron said,
I haven’t had a day off for several months and I’ve been working at it pretty much full-time for three years. So that’s design, writing four scripts that are worthy of the kind of budgets/audience expectations that would make it worthwhile, designing an entire world, completely revamping our virtual production pipeline and building the actual facilities.
He also added about the project,
The thing is, my focus isn’t on Avatar 2. My focus is on Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 equally. That’s exactly how I’m approaching it.
Apart from Titanic and Avatar, Cameron also directed Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Aliens which was received well by the audience.
The epic sci-fi film franchise stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Cliff Curtis, Oona Chaplin and Joel David Moore. Fox will release the first Avatar sequel on December 18, 2020. The next sequel will come a year later with the last two in December 2024 and 2025.
Cameron will be filming a number of films back-to-back, beating out Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, but the budget marks a new record on its own.
Hope Avatar Sequels will once again leave a remarkable mark in the minds of the audience. 🙂
