A bride-to-be married her heartthrob and did not let a very rare type of cancer from stopping it.
RONDA BIVENS MAGER
Epithelioid Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that affects only 1 in 2.5 million people. Ronda Bivens Mager is the one in this who suffers from this deadly disease.
In May 2016, Doctors amputated her leg after diagnosing a lump on her ankle as Epithelioid Sarcoma in February 2016.
It is unfortunate that Ronda went through diagnosis twice earlier where doctors treated the lump just as Tendinitis and as a Torn Tendon. However, it is too late now. The cancer cells spread to her lungs well.
Afflicted Ronda advises people to take any lump in the body seriously. In an online post, she urged:
Never in a million years would I or anyone else thought this would be cancer but it is. So please everyone, if you find a bump of any sort go to the doctor. Go to a bunch of doctors for second opinions. Maybe if I did, instead of believing all these other misdiagnoses, things would be different.
Ronda’s boy Matt Mager is one of the sole reason for her being alive now though that won’t last long.
Tear-jerking Matt said:
They (Doctors) told us right off the bat there was no cure. They said, ‘We can just do what helps.’ But everything they’ve done has just made it worse. It’s financially wrecked us, and I’ve had a front row seat to my best friend dying. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It’s very emotional.
CANCER TAKING OVER RONDA’S LIFE
A week back, Ronda’s condition degraded further and she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. The awaiting news was worse than before. The tumor took over Ronda’s brain as well. With that, they also revealed that her left lung stopped working and the right is infected. Hence, this confirms that she has got only a few days to live.
Only drips and draps of Ronda’s strength left, her 28th birthday saw her wish fulfilled in front of her eyes. Amanda Dalton, Ronda’s best friend along with Matt arranged for a small wedding. Amanda who presented her own wedding dress to Ronda said:
It was friends calling friends, getting everything together. We called the county clerk’s office – they sent someone out – and we got a preacher. It happened literally within a couple hours once we got it rolling.
Even if one refers Ronda Bivens as a fighter, it will still go as an understatement. It is hard for her to be happy knowing that she won’t last long. But, it is her soulmate Matt and the lovable people surrounding her make her live her final days with utmost joy.
